WugLing Linguistics Competition 2025 was held from August 15 through September 1. See the results here.

WugLing is an open, inclusive, and professional linguistics competition that offers an intellectually challenging linguistics experience. The competition centers on a core theme and is designed to create an open-ended and immersive experience that resembles realistic linguistic fieldwork. In addition, WugLing is actively working to become increasingly internationalized, appealing to a broader community of enthusiasts to explore the vast world of linguistics. The theme for WugLing 2025, "Games", will guide participants across the globe through an in-depth linguistic analysis, exploring expressions and terminology related to games across different real-world languages.

Question Design

The WugLing linguistic competition not only encompasses objective questions involving fundamental linguistic knowledge, such as multiple-choice, and IOL-style logic puzzles but also includes subjective response questions that involve interdisciplinary knowledge. This allows participants to flexibly apply their accumulated knowledge to answer questions from multiple dimensions, thereby lowering the entry barrier to the competition.
